As someone who doesn’t know how to properly apply make-up (I didn’t start wearing make-up until I was in university!), I like to keep my routine very minimal, easy, and affordable. My current routine allows me to get ready in about ten minutes.
I typically buy my make-up from the drugstore, but I was very grateful to try a new brand called Live Tinted, founded by Deepica Mutyala in 2017. Live Tinted is aimed at providing high-quality, clean, vegan, and cruelty-free products to diverse communities, with a focus on providing for deeper (tinted) skin tones. Their products are available online from their official website and through Sephora.
Since becoming a mom, I have looked for ways to increase efficiency and despite my already quick make-up routine, there’s always room for improvement! I was mostly interested in Live Tinted’s Hueguard 3-in-1 Mineral Sunscreen, Moisturizer, Primer with SPF 30 and Huegloss High-Shine Lip Gloss. I felt like I could get the most out of these two products with my existing make-up routine.
Live Tinted Hueguard 3-in-1 Mineral Sunscreen, Moisturizer, Primer SPF 30
I was very intrigued by this product because a 3-in-1 would allow me to get rid of a few steps in my routine, and also declutter my make-up bag and counterspace. However, I’m very skeptical about multiple-use products after being scarred by 2-in-1 shampoo/conditioners.
After washing my face, I squirted a nickel-sized amount (based on their instructions) onto my fingers to apply directly to my face. My first reaction was my concern that this cream would blend into my skin flawlessly. The last thing I needed was to blend vigorously with a brush that I probably do not own. Surprisingly, the cream blended into my skin smoothly when I worked the product around. Towards the end, I felt the nickel-sized amount may not have been enough but I was able to get a full face and neck coverage.
Leaving the product on my skin for a few moments, I felt it become lightweight and could feel it moisturizing my skin. When I touched my cheeks, I was surprised to feel plump, hydrated, and not at all greasy. Best of all – no white cast! My previous daily moisturizer had SPF 15 so I was very pleased with a higher SPF, even during the winter.
Since I don’t wear too much make-up, I like that I can use this as a standalone product that would still give me some coverage to hide imperfections for a casual hangout with some friends on the weekend. Overall, this cream gives me nice SPF coverage, a nice primed face for my foundation and blush, and keeps my face moisturized in the dry mornings, all whilst blurring any imperfections, and not feeling heavy or cakey.
And, another important element for me is it’s also fragrance-free, making it optimal for those sensitive to scents or when you frequent fragrance-free places often.
It retails for about $34.00 CAD or $30.60 CAD if you subscribe and save.
Live Tinted Huegloss High-Shine Lip Gloss
Another product that I was intrigued to try out was their lip gloss since it claims to be hydrating. I’m typically not a fan of lip glosses because they tend to dry my lips out, leaving me with a gross, sticky, cake-like texture on my lips if I don’t fix it quickly enough. Also, all my previous lip glosses tend to be quite sticky which is another reason I often opt for lipsticks.
I grabbed the shade in Proud (Soft Rose) because I like a neutral tone for professional settings. When I first applied the lip gloss, my reaction was – oh no, it’s thick. It’s going to be sticky.
But, I trusted the process and took a step back.
It’s glossy! It’s very glossy. But, not overly glossy that it would be unprofessional in an office environment. Next, I grabbed a sip of water and much to my surprise, it didn’t feel sticky, nor did it leave that distinct lipgloss taste on my straw – if you know, you know. I left it on for a few hours and was pleased to discover that it didn’t dry out and kept my lips moisturized as it claimed. I found out that the lipgloss is made with coconut oil and shea butter to help nourish and moisturize the lips.
Overall, I love that I found a lip gloss that I trust enough to wear again. I’m thinking of grabbing another one in red to have for special occasions. If you’re not a fan of lip gloss like I was, give this one a shot!
This retails for $20.00 CAD or $18.00 CAD if you subscribe and save.
I’m very pleased with Live Tinted. To be honest, these prices are a bit more than what I would normally spend but the quality is there for me to continue supporting Live Tinted. I can’t get over the 3-in-1 face cream, and despite its price tag, it effectively removes a few products from my routine and saves me money and time. As a former lipgloss girlie, I despise lipglosses in fear of that dried-out look but true to its word, the Huegloss does keep your lips nourished and moisturized and the $20 is good enough to heal any previous trauma.
